The recent US CHIPS Act is spurring $200+ billion in US based factories as well as the various equipmetn and material vendors who supply parts large (e.g. ion implanters, water chllling systems) and small (e.g. rubber gaskets, ultra-pure water). 1) The European Union and Asian countries are making similar investments. 2) Therefore, there will be numerous job opportunities in the semiconductor industry. 3) In fact, there is a talent shortage in the US, meaning your engineering talent is needed!
Anne Meixner (ECE PhD '94) will provide an overview of her personal path from a BSEE from UMD to working within one of the most complex manufacturing sectors. Attendees will be able to ask any questions they may have about working in the industry.
Anne Meixner is founder of The Engineer's Daughter LLC, which provides consulting on semiconductor electronics testng and training focused on an engineer's career development. She has publisehd over 10 paper related to semiconductor testing and holds 3 US patents for design for test circuitry. After receving her BS in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, she earned a MS from New York University and a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon. Anne has more than 35 years experience working at IBM, Intel and as a test technology consultant.
